چکیده

We are interested in bridging the world of natural language and the world of the semantic web in particular to support multilingual access to the web of data. In this paper we introduce the ULiS project, that aims at designing a pivot-based NLP technique called Universal Linguistic System, 100% using the semantic web formalisms, and being compliant with the Meaning-Text theory. Through the ULiS, a user could interact with an interlingual knowledge base (IKB) in controlled natural language. Linguistic resources themselves are part of a specific IKB: The Universal Lexical Knowledge base (ULK), so that actors may enhance their controlled natural language, through requests in controlled natural language. We describe a basic interaction scenario at the system level, and provide an overview of the architecture of ULiS. We then introduce the core of the ULiS: the interlingual lexical ontology (ILexicOn), in which each interlingual lexical unit class (ILU) supports the projection of its semantic decomposition on itself. We validate our model with a standalone ILexicOn, and introduce and explain a concise human-readable notation for it.

Use of Semantic Similarity and Web Usage Mining to Alleviate the Drawbacks of User-Based Collaborative Filtering Recommender Systems

One of the most famous methods for recommendation is user-based Collaborative Filtering (CF). This system compares active user’s items rating with historical rating records of other users to find similar users and recommending items which seems interesting to these similar users and have not been rated by the active user. As a way of computing recommendations, the ultimate goal of the user-ba...

ILexicOn: toward an ECD-compliant interlingual lexical ontology described with semantic web formalisms

We are interested in bridging the world of natural language and the world of the semantic web in particular to support natural multilingual access to the web of data. In this paper we introduce a new type of lexical ontology called interlingual lexical ontology (ILexicOn), which uses semantic web formalisms to make each interlingual lexical unit class (ILU) support the projection of its semanti...

Several Required OWL Features for Indigenous Knowledge Management Systems

This paper describes the features required of OWL to realise and enhance Indigenous Knowledge (IK) digital repositories. Several needs for Indigenous Knowledge management systems (IKMSs) are articulated, based on extensive stakeholder input, and analysed on the suitability of semantic web technologies in addressing them. Based on their potential for impact and maturity, several possible applica...

LabelTranslator: A System for Localizing Ontologies in Collaborative Settings

LabelTranslator is a system to semi-automatically localize ontologies in different natural languages: it extracts, translates and updates the lexicon of an ontology. Its objective is to support the development of multilingual ontologies, combining and exploiting the linguistic and semantic knowledge available on the Web to discover the translations of each ontology entity. We present the design...
